Class 7 (Year 5) - Miss Cavill

Welcome to Class 7,

Class 7 is a year five class which is taught by Miss Cavill, Miss Dale and Mrs Dowding are the Teaching Assistants linked to the class.

It is our priority to ensure your child's safety, promote wellbeing and make learning enjoyable and engaging!  We have a range of fun topics ahead of us this year including The Vikings, Coasts, Lino Printing, Ancient Greece and Crime and Punishment.

A note from Miss Cavill

Each year I am always excited and looking forward to spending time with and getting to know my class.

In my spare time, I love to read and enjoy ‘losing myself’ in a good book and being taken to a different world or historical time period. I am always on the lookout for new books and any recommendations are always gratefully received. I also enjoy spending time in my garden and grow a range of plants and vegetables.

A Note For Parents

Reading books

Children will bring their reading books and reading journals home from school each day and they are encouraged to read them each night, ideally an adult is to sign the reading journal daily.

Please ensure all reading books and reading journals are returned to school each day – we will be reading our reading books each day in school too.

Spelling

Your child will bring home 20 spellings on a Monday. They should practise these spellings each night and they will be tested on 10 of them on a Friday. The spelling sheets do not need to be returned to school.  

Homework

Each Friday children will bring their weekly homework home.  The homework will be linked to reading, SPaG (spelling, grammar and punctuation) or maths taught in class during the week. 

Homework should be returned no later than the Wednesday of the following week.

If any child is struggling or has questions about their homework, they are to ask Miss Cavill Miss Dale or Mrs Dowding and they will help them in school.

Water Bottles

Children are encouraged to bring a water bottle to school. It should be labelled with your child's name. Children will bring their bottles home daily for cleaning. Please ensure that children only have water in their classroom bottle. (A separate bottle for juice can be sent in if your child has a packed lunch dinner). 

PE

Your child's PE days are a Wednesday and a Friday. 

Please ensure that your child comes to school with or has in school their PE kit each Wednesday and Friday.

The school’s PE kit consists of black shorts/joggers/leggings, a white t-shirt and appropriate footwear. PE, where possible, will be taking place outside so children are advised to wear a hoodie and joggers or leggings to keep warm outside, as well as trainers or plimsolls.
